Seed Inspection Season is Here!

The 2008 seed inspection season is upon us.  The Colorado Department of Agriculture will begin pulling regulatory samples in February, and continue through April.  Seed retailers and labelers should make sure that all information on seed tags is correct and current.  Remember: all seed lots should have a germination test date no older than 13 months.  For more information please contact the CDA Division of Plant Industry.

CSGA Hosts Western AOSCA Meeting in Breckenridge

The Colorado Seed Growers Association is hosting the Western Region of the Association of Official Seed Certifying Agencies (AOSCA) meeting in Breckenridge, CO on April 16-17, 2008. Each year, leading up to the national meeting of AOSCA in midsummer, the regions meet to discuss local seed issues and prepare for the national meeting. The Western meeting is an opportunity to focus on crops grown in this part of the country, such as small grains, native grasses, alfalfa, and dry beans. Sessions include a special “Native Seed Powwow”, Foundation Seed, and General Certification. The meeting facilitates interstate movement of seed by letting agency directors get to know one another better and exchange ideas. AOSCA is made up of four regions: Western, Northern, Southern, and International. More information on AOSCA can be found at
http://www.aosca.org.

2008 Field Season Fast Approaching

It is that time of year again and the CSGA Office is gearing up for field inspection season. If you are a wheat, grass or alfalfa grower you will soon receive your field application materials. Other CSGA growers will receive their packets as the summer progresses. Read about the upcoming field season here.
